This weeks ‘Interview Fridays’ is with the lovely and creative Leyna Allred of Urb Apothecary located in Santa Cruz! It’s been an honor and a pleasure watching her develop her intoxicating products! I’m hooked for life!
Read on to see what she had to say:
Q: How long have you been honing your craft?
A: I have been honing this particular craft of herbal concoctions for about three years now.
Q. What is your favorite product you produce?
A: That is almost like asking a parent which child is their favorite! But the rose body oil and rose clay bar are my particular favorites at the moment. The true and light scent of rose is truly intoxicating and soothing, as though you are in a rose garden at dusk.
Q. What inspires you?
A: So many things! The beauty of our surroundings here is Santa Cruz is enormously inspiring, especially how diverse it is. Other artisans’ design and creativity really ignites my creative flow.
Q. What is one of your favorite parts of being an artisan?
A:There are so many elements of being an artisan, but one of my favorite parts is the process of actively creating something, of figuring out the proportions and finding that winning combination. Also, I truly love how communities of artisans seem to form so organically, like-minded individuals gravitating towards each other and supporting and inspiring.
Q. What is on the horizon for you this year?
A: I never know what the year much less the days hold, but I know whatever it is, it will be exciting! I am working on refining and grow the URB APOTHECARY brand and looking to expand its wholesale accounts into boutique brick and mortars and online shops.
