Our first 5 question interview was with none other than Mutari Hot Chocolate! Here’s what Adam + Matt Armstrong, founders of Mutari Hot Chocolate had to say:

Q: How long have you been honing your craft?
A: 4 years, I (Adam) learned the process in Panama when I was in the Peace Corps.

Q: What is your favorite product you produce?
A: Matt: The Venezuelan Sipping Chocolate! It has fruity + tangy notes! I feel energized, but not jittery! Adam: The Spicy Mexican, as the spices bring out the flavor of the Guatemalan bean, which has subtle flavors.

Q: What inspires you?
A: Anytime I meet people who are producing artisan craft food or care about what they are doing.

Q: What is one of your favorite parts of being an artisan?
A: Being able to create something people really like. It’s really gratifying.

Q: What is on the horizon for you this year?
A: Well, we just opened our Chocolate Shop + Factory here in downtown Santa Cruz! Which is really exciting! We also have visions of expanding our territories to SF + LA.
