This week we are featuring Jeannie Wholey from Fish Princess Farms in Bonny Doon, CA for our Interview Fridays! She crafted up a decadent custom scented Coastal Eucalyptus Goat Milk Lotion for our Santa Cruz, CA box! See what she had to say below:
Q: How long have you been honing your craft?
A:Eight years ago we bought the dairy goats for with the intent of making our own cheese. It’s only after milk production became so great that I couldn’t make enough cheese to keep up that I started making soap. Now it’s been 5 years of making and selling it for 4.
Q: What is your favorite product you produce?
A: My favorite product is our Honey soap. Its like making breakfast (milk, honey, oats, cinnamon) and I never tire of the scent.
Q: What inspires you?
A: I love the commerce, trade and meeting customers. Customers inspire me the most with their stories of a soap or a scent that they remember from their travels. Using that inspiration to create and sell products.
Q: What is one of your favorite parts of being an artisan?
A: Being my own boss; fine tuning my craft, blending different scents, creating new recipes and seeing people use and love my product that is created start to finish on the farm and in my studio.
Q: What is on the horizon for you this year?
A: This year we are introducing our specialty soaps line. Its been in the works for a while and is now in the packaging phase which will put it on shelves in the next few months. We are now producing a sensitive skin bar, extra-moisturizing bar, castile, milled and facial bar.
